Centro Vela Bracciano, situated beneath the historic castle on Lake Bracciano, is making final preparations to host the 63rd Vaurien World Championship from July 13-19, 2025. Located approximately 20km north of Rome, this picturesque venue offers optimal conditions for competitive sailing while providing a stunning backdrop for the FlySight-sponsorship.
The 63rd Vaurien World Championship is shaping up as a truly global sailing festival with organizers confirming the participation of 90 crews representing 14 nations across 4 continents. This extraordinary turnout highlights the growing international appeal of this historic sailing competition.
True to the inclusive spirit of the Vaurien class, the championship welcomes an impressively diverse field of competitors. The event maintains its “Open” format, accommodating both professional athletes and amateurs ranging from 13 to 65 years of age. This approach reflects the class’s foundational mission of making sailing accessible to all.
More than half the competitors will be young athletes in the junior category. The competition will feature male, female, and mixed crews, with some teams traveling from as far as Angola and Uruguay alongside the traditional European strongholds of France, Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands. Italian representation remains strong with approximately 40 boats flying the host nation’s flag.
Beyond the competition itself, the championship will bring approximately 2,000 people to Lake Bracciano for a week of racing and cultural exchange. Throughout the event, participants will experience not only healthy competition but also the conviviality that have become hallmarks of Vaurien sailing.
