OPENSIGHT for wall-to-wall forest structure mapping | The new scientific publication by FlySight

Dec 6, 2021

Take a look at our new scientific publication: “Enhancing wall-to-wall forest structure mapping through detailed co-registration of airborne and terrestrial laser scanning data in Mediterranean forests”.

Among the authors our CTO Andrea Masini and the OPENSIGHTSoftware designer Andrea Bracci.

Highlights

A new co-registration procedure of terrestrial and airborne laser scanning point clouds has been presented

Terrestrial and airborne laser scanning data were combined to characterize forest stand structures

A plot level Enhanced Structural Spatial Index was derived to assess the three-dimensional structure of the forest stands

The obtained forest structural features have been correlated with airborne laser scanning metrics to perform a spatial prediction map of the study area.
