FlySight is participating in the 1st Cross-CapTech Workshop on Optronics and Space, organized by the European Defence Agency (EDA) and held at the EDA in Brussels.
The event brings together representatives from industry, research and technology organizations, academia and institutional stakeholders to discuss current developments and future directions in optronic systems for space applications.
Optronics plays an increasingly strategic role in the space domain, enabling advanced capabilities for Earth Observation (EO) and Space Situational Awareness (SSA). Optical and hyperspectral sensors, combined with on-board data processing, secure communications and AI-supported analysis, are key technologies for detecting, tracking and characterizing objects in space, as well as for persistent surveillance and intelligence gathering from orbit. These systems contribute to improved interoperability, data sharing and resilience across current and next-generation satellite constellations.
Within this context, FlySight’s CEO, Andrea Masini, is contributing to the technical program in Session 4: Earth Observation, Hyperspectral Imaging, and Simulation. His presentation, titled “HYPERSIM: Hyperspectral Satellite Simulation Framework”, focuses on FlySight’s approach to simulation as a critical enabler for the development of next-generation optronic payloads for EO and SSA missions.
Simulation frameworks such as HYPERSIM allow system designers and mission planners to model hyperspectral sensors and space-based imaging systems under realistic operational conditions. This supports performance assessment, design optimization and risk reduction throughout the development lifecycle, while accelerating innovation and improving the reliability of future space assets.
The Cross-CapTech Workshop aims not only to showcase state-of-the-art technologies, but also to identify capability gaps, propose innovative research topics and foster collaboration across European stakeholders. In particular, it provides a platform to discuss potential cross-CapTech projects aligned with Member States’ interests and emerging defence and security needs in space.
FlySight is proud to contribute its expertise to this important forum, reinforcing its commitment to advancing the convergence of optronics and space technologies in support of more effective, secure and intelligent space systems.
